Tim designed, illustrated, printed, and published his first book ‘Kubla Khan’ at whilst at Watford School of Art in 1977. It was printed using hand set Caslon type and line block illustrations on an elderly letterpress and then hard-back ‘Watford bound’ (for single sheets), ironically, in London. Since that time he has created jackets for both fiction and non-fiction titles for Random House, Penguin, Hamish Hamilton, Transworld, Orion, Pan, Thomas Nelson, and, most recently, for MacMillan Caribbean Writers. For the greater part jackets have featured illustrations or photographs but nothing quite equals the beauty of a purely typographic cover (thank you Mr Levin). Subject matter has varied greatly - popular science, educational, poetry, social commentary, novels, travel, drama ...
